Send the welcome email within minutes of signup

A welcome email should arrive fast, say three plain things, and leave out everything else.

The first welcome email goes out automatically, within minutes of signup. It covers three things: who you are, what you will send and how often, and one next step.

If the signup form promised something, like a booking confirmation, deliver it here.

It is not a receipt or a catalog. Ten links and six photos bury the one thing you want the reader to do.

Keep the series short

Four or five emails over about two weeks is plenty. Each has one job: hello, story, first questions, one offer. Then people move to the normal schedule without a gap, and without suddenly getting much heavier sends.

People join in different places, like a website form, a booking tool, the register, or a quote form. Each may need a slightly different first email. Use a reply-to address someone actually reads. Check the footer.

Some inboxes now let a reader ask AI to summarize an email thread. A welcome email that plainly says who it is from, what is coming, and how often can give the reader, and any summary they ask for, something clear to work from.

Count replies, bookings, and unsubscribes for each email. Do not judge the series by open rate alone.

Examples are in the welcome email guide. The welcome email leads into the weekly plan, which we write and send for you every week.
